STORY: Argentina fans gathered on Friday (July 17) at Ezeiza International Airport outside Buenos Aires to fly to New York to see the national team take on Spain as it bids to retain its world title.

Fans interviewed by Reuters said that, despite the high costs, it was worth paying to witness Argentina's potential fourth World Cup trophy.

National airline Aerolineas Argentinas announced a third special flight to New York for fans who wanted to attend the final, after the two previous ones were fully booked.

According to Argentine media, the first two special flights sold out in 12 hours.

A one-way direct flight on Saturday cost at least 4.8 million Argentine pesos ($3,220), according to the airline's website.
