Two workers operating an excavator in northern Peru narrowly escaped on Friday (March 13) when a landslide swept over the machinery while they were clearing a road.

Images captured by a local resident showed the moment the landslide struck and workers quickly abandoned the machinery before the ground gave way down the hill.

According to local media, the cleaning works were restoring a road that had been affected by heavy rains.
