S010-VATICANO PAPA ENCUENTRO JUSTICIA
STORY: Justice Samuel Alito, a conservative member of the U.S. Supreme Court, along with his wife, Martha Bomgardner, greeted Pope Leo XIV on the occasion of a papal audience at the Vatican on Saturday (September 20).
The ceremony in St Peter's Square was part of the Jubilee of Justice, an event dedicated to judges, prosecutors, magistrates, lawyers and legal professionals during the Catholic Holy Year.
Alito and Bomgardner had the opportunity to shake hands with the pontiff at the end of the audience, which they attended from the front rows reserved for authorities.
The Holy Year, which normally occurs every 25 years, was inaugurated by the late Pope Francis on December 24, 2024, and will run through January 6, 2026.
