S010-REINO UNIDO LONDRES MARCHA PROPALESTINA
Pro-Palestinian protesters marched through London on Saturday (October 11), waving flags and chanting slogans as a ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian militant group Hamas took effect.
Israeli troops pulled back under the first phase of a U.S.-brokered agreement reached this week to end the war, which has killed tens of thousands of people and left much of the enclave in ruins.
Protesters said they welcomed the pause but questioned its durability and added that the goal remained "a free Palestine".
Police maintained a visible presence and were seen removing several people from the crowd.

“Although we share the relief of the Palestinian people that there is a ceasefire today, we've all been inspired by the extraordinary things of tens of thousands of Palestinian people once more marching to their homes or what remains of their homes, many of them preparing to dig through the rubble to find the bodies of their relatives to give them a decent burial. But we also share their trepidation that this ceasefire will not hold rooted in the knowledge that Israel has violated every ceasefire agreement it's held. But we also come here knowing that Donald Trump's plan is not a pathway to an enduring peace.”
5. (SOUNDBITE) (English) PRO-PALESTINIAN PROTESTER, SARAH (NO SURNAME GIVEN), SAYING:
“But we have to remember we've been marching for the last two years for free Palestine, not for a ceasefire, although a ceasefire is really good. They've called ceasefire before. It doesn't mean Palestine is going to be free. They still face occupation.”
6. (SOUNDBITE) (English) PRO-PALESTINIAN PROTESTER, ZAINAB (NO SURNAME GIVEN), SAYING:
“Yeah, and also with ceasefires in the past, they've only lasted a few days before the bombings started again. So I don't really believe that it's a true ceasefire. And that's why we're here today, because the war isn't over. We're still fighting the good fight. And we believe in a free Palestine where they can live and be free, free of occupation, of being harassed day-to-day.”
