Mourners in Khan Younis gathered at Nasser hospital on Saturday (August 23), to bid farewell to family members killed in an Israeli strike on a camp tent, which led to casualties and injuries according to medics.

Israel has regularly said it takes steps to avoid hitting civilians. Israel says it is seeking to eliminate militants from Hamas, which attacked southern Israel from Gaza in 2023, and free hostages still held by the group.

The Gaza war was triggered on October 7, 2023, when Hamas killed 1,200 people in southern Israel and took some 250 hostages, according to Israeli tallies.

Since then, Israel's military campaign has killed more than 62,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza health authorities.
