STORY: Police scuffled with student protesters in Brussels on Saturday (October 24) during a demonstration in the Belgian capital.

Footage showed protesters running and falling as police surrounded them, and officers hitting and kicking one protester. Protesters were also seen throwing items onto bicycles to block a road and attempting to set it on fire.

Hundreds of protesters began gathering around 1300 local time at Brussels-Central station to start marching to the Gare du Midi train station.

Outside of Belgium, students are protesting in France, Albania and Italy over education conditions, cost of living and perceived government corruption in some of the most heated demonstrations seen in years.
