STORY: Belgium fans said they felt electric as they celebrated outside Vancouver’s BC Place Stadium on Friday (June 26) after their team defeated New Zealand 5-1 to seal top spot in Group G and advance to the World Cup knockout stage.
Supporters wearing Belgium’s red, black and yellow colours poured out of the stadium waving flags, singing football chants and embracing one another after the final whistle, turning the streets around the venue into a sea of celebration.
Fans beat drums, posed for photographs and chanted as they celebrated Belgium’s dominant display, while passing motorists sounded their horns in support.
The comprehensive victory capped an unbeaten group-stage campaign for the Red Devils and left supporters confident their team can mount a serious challenge in the knockout rounds.
