S008-UCRANIA ATAQUE DNIPRO
STORY: Four people were killed and at least 27 injured after a Russian attack hit Dnipro and an apartment building collapsed, regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha said on Saturday (April 25).
Thick columns of black smoke could be seen streaming into the sky on Saturday morning, as local media warned residents in the city about worsening air quality.
A Reuters reporter saw a Russian drone being destroyed in the sky over the ruined apartment block as rescuers were working in the rubble.
At the destroyed apartment block in Dnipro, residents were stricken with grief and rage.
"May their children sleep in their warm beds in Russia, and may everything be all right for them. Let them watch as Russia 'liberates' us of our apartments and houses," said 37-year-old Alona Katrushova, who lives in the building opposite.
She looked on in her dressing gown as those living next door were hauled out from the rubble. Saturday is her husband Oleh's birthday.
"It's like being given a second life," Oleh said after surviving the attack, although the couple's apartment was damaged.
Russia attacked Ukraine overnight with 619 drones and 47 missiles, Ukraine's air force said on Saturday, adding that several regions were hit, with the southeastern city of Dnipro being the main target.

"Can you imagine the force of the explosion? It was so loud. I was lying down when the first blast went off. Debris started raining down on me, and the balcony was blown away. I think.... and was the second one. I’d just grabbed a cigarette and gone into the toilet. And the last blast—it went off right next to me, and everything came crashing down. If I hadn’t gone to the toilet, I don’t know if I’d still be alive."

He (Russian president Vladimir Putin) said, 'Zaporizhzhia... I’ll burn these towns to the ground.' And that’s exactly what’s happening. Here you have it - the Russian forces’ summer offensive has begun."
