STORY: Egyptian fans gathered in Giza on Saturday (June 27) to celebrate the national team’s first-ever qualification for the World Cup Round of 32 after a 1-1 draw with Iran.

Supporters watched the game in cafés, waving flags and chanting for Egypt, as celebrations erupted across the area following the match.

Among the crowd was Egyptian singer Ehab Tawfik, who joined fans in celebrating the historic qualification, and praised Egypt's performance ahead of the next match against Australia.

"The next match will be harder, but we can do it," he said.

The celebrations continued in the streets, with fans blowing horns, drumming, and expressing pride in the team’s achievement.

Egypt finished second with five points, behind Belgium on goal difference, and will play Australia in Dallas on July 3 after they qualified for the knockout phase for the first time.
