S007-EEUU GLENN CLOSE HOMENAJE CINE
STORY: Actor Glenn Close had her hands and feet cemented into the forecourt of the TCL Chinese Theatre on Friday (May 1) as part of the TCM Classic Film Festival.
Close, nominated eight times for an Oscar without a win, joined a tradition dating to the 1920s that includes Marilyn Monroe, Fred Astaire, Tom Cruise and Harrison Ford.
While Monroe cemented her earring and Daniel Radcliffe cemented his "Harry Potter" wand, Close allowed her dog, Sir Pippin of Beanfield, to have his paw print placed in cement alongside her hand and footprints.
Speaking after the ceremony, Close told Reuters, "It's going to take me a while to process it. I'm a Connecticut Yankee. We don't do this. So to be even to be asked, I couldn't believe it, I said, 'Are you sure?'"
Her roles in "Fatal Attraction", "Dangerous Liaisons" and "101 Dalmatians" have made Close one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood.
However, Close said she is still insecure about her profession.
"You know you're lucky if you know where your next job, your next two jobs come from. It doesn't change that much. So to be included as to have made good choices over these 50 years, 52 years, it's astounding to me and I'm humbled by it," she said.
A recent viral video showed "Fatal Attraction" producer Sherry Lansing explaining how she initially refused to audition Close for the role of Alex Forrest. Close pushed hard for the audition and won the part.
Speaking about how she has had to fight for roles, Close said, "I didn't like just waiting around for the telephone to ring, you know, but I'm also very aware, when I walk into a director's office, I'm just like a clean slate. So I think looking the way I look, sometimes people couldn't imagine, so I've had to prove myself over and over again."
