STORY: Venezuela received more than six tonnes of medical supplies from the United States on Friday (February 13), officials said.

The shipment of medicines arrived at Simon Bolivar International Airport in La Guaira state, according to images shown by the Venezuelan state television channel.

The delivery was received by Venezuela's diplomatic representative to the US, Felix Plasencia, alongside the US chargé d'affaires in Venezuela, Laura Dogu.

Dogu said the cargo marked the first shipment of medicines to arrive in the country and added that additional medical supplies are expected in the coming days.

The shipment comes amid bilateral agreements and a relaxation of US sanctions implemented by Washington.
