STORY: A missing New Jersey man who fell down an icy embankment on Friday (February 6) was found, with the help of his Apple AirTag.

Body camera footage from New Jersey Transit police showed officers and firefighters from the Hoboken Fire Department using ropes and a board to secure and pull the man more than 40 feet up an icy ravine near the 9th Street light rail station in Jersey City.

According to New Jersey Transit, at about 8:40 a.m. local time (1340 gmt), the man’s Apple AirTag began pinging in the area of 9th Street Station and first responders spotted him.

Hoboken Police had been searching for the man since the prior day and believe he was exposed to freezing temperatures for hours.

The man, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital with injuries but is expected to survive.
