STORY: U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday (January 16) he was "tremendously honoured" after lawmakers in Florida named part of a road after him, with the U.S. leader using the event to tout improved ties with Venezuela.

The new name is for a part of Florida's Southern Boulevard which links Palm Beach International Airport to Mar-a-Lago.

At the event for the new name, Trump said he had a 'great relationship' with Venezuela's interim leaders.

Trump has backed former Maduro loyalists, led by interim President Delcy Rodriguez, to govern the OPEC nation.

'And we have to get it processed immediately because we have no room. Will you take it?' I said, 'We'll take it'. I didn't have to consult with anybody on that. I didn't have to call up our great attorney general. I said, 'We will take it'. And it's the equivalent to $5.2 billion. That was the first day. And it's now travelling nicely to the United States. And we've had a great relationship with the people that are currently, they say the interim president and everybody else. And it's been, I think a lot of pressure has been released."
