S005-UCRANIA KIEV BOMBEROS INCENDIO TRAS ATAQUE RUSO
Video released by Ukraine’s State Emergency Service on Saturday (August 8) showed firefighters battling flames engulfing buildings following Russian strikes that an official said had killed three people, including a child, in the region surrounding the capital Kyiv.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv regional administration, said Russian strikes were recorded at three locations in the Boryspil district, near the capital. Three more people were injured in the attack, he added.
In the capital itself, fires were reported in two districts, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said, following an air raid alert. Reuters witnesses heard several powerful explosions that shook the centre of the city.
Ukraine is chronically short of air defences capable of downing Russia's ballistic missiles.
Reuters was not able to independently verify the location and date when the video was filmed. However local officials on Saturday (August 8) said Russian strikes were recorded at multiple locations in Kyiv.
