S005-MÉXICO LABORATORIO DROGA
STORY: Mexican federal authorities announced the dismantling of a clandestine synthetic drug laboratory in Nayarit on Friday (August 15), seizing over 12 tons of methamphetamine, according to a Navy statement.
The operation was led by the Mexican Navy in coordination with the National Defense Secretariat, the National Guard, and other security agencies. The lab, located in San Blas, was also found to contain 54,500 liters of chemical substances and various equipment used for drug production.
Video released by the Mexican Navy on Friday showed personnel inspecting production facilities in a forested open-air compound.
This seizure is estimated to have dealt a financial blow of over 3.4 billion pesos to organized crime and prevented the distribution of 320 million doses of drugs.
