Siracusa (Estados Unidos)

STORY: US President Donald Trump reiterated his complaints on Friday (October) about not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, calling it a disgraceful and embarrassing decision that had left a stain on Norway, which hosts the Nobel committee.

Trump unleashed on Norway hours after the committee awarded this year's prize to Navi Pillay, a former International Criminal Court judge who oversaw a UN report that concluded Israel committed genocide in Gaza.

Trump called Pillay a "mystery person" during a campaign rally in Syracuse, New York. "I never heard of the person. Nobody did."

Each year of his presidency, Trump has expressed disappointment at his failure to win the prize.

"This is an indelible stain on the country of Norway and those people that made such a disgraceful and embarrassing decision," Trump said.

He listed a number of conflicts that he claimed a role in resolving and said he has helped prevent wars from breaking out between North and South Korea, Japan and North Korea, and China and Taiwan, without providing evidence.

"The Nobel Peace Prize has been forever discredited by a handful of radical ideologues who are anti-democracy and really enemies of civilization. And we will not forget, Norway," he said.

2. (SOUNDBITE) (English) US PRESIDENT, DONALD TRUMP, SAYING:

“Today they gave out the Nobel Peace Prize to a person I'd never heard of the person, nobody did. It's a mystery person. How about this, though? I settled eight wars with letters being sent from every president and prime minister, from all of those countries that I helped to stop. They sent them to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Norway. And I'm about to settle or win two more; Iran and Russia and Ukraine. We are going to get them. Russia and Ukraine, we’re going to get that all done too. And that's happening quickly. And I will tell you what, Iran will be very quick one way or the other. Either they give us everything or they don't exist any longer. They know that.”

4. (SOUNDBITE) (English) US PRESIDENT, DONALD TRUMP, SAYING:

“Despite all of this and all of these unbelievable accomplishments, the Nobel Prize was given out today to a liberal person who works at the United Nations, who nobody has ever heard of. I've never heard of the person. I know a lot of people. I've never heard of this particular person. But congratulations anyway. In all of the wars that I've settled, I never spoke to the United Nations. They were of no help to me. The United States of America, represented by me as your president, should have received the Nobel Peace Prize, but didn't. And this is an indelible stain on the country of Norway. And those people that made such a disgraceful and embarrassing decision. The Nobel Peace Prize has been forever discredited by a handful of radical ideologues who are anti-democracy and really enemies of civilization. And we will not forget Norway, that you didn't give this prize, with the greatest record in history, not eight wars. We should have had eight Nobel Prizes for each war.”
