Singer and actress Miley Cyrus received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday (May 22), marking a milestone in a career that has spanned from child stardom to global pop influence.

Cyrus posed alongside her newly unveiled star on Hollywood Boulevard, surrounded by her family, friends, and fans, including her mother Tish Cyrus Purcell, sister Brandi Cyrus, and fiancé Maxx Morando.

“The fact that I won’t [live forever] is what creates the urgency that sets my heart on fire, my life and my art,” she said. “My desire [is] to break down the walls of any boxes that we’ve been tricked to believe that exist.”

Los Angeles City Councilman Hugo Soto-Martinez presented Cyrus with a proclamation on behalf of the city, praising her “incredible work” throughout her career.

“What feels so special to me about this star is that it’s an accumulation of devotion,” Cyrus added. “The star isn’t something that you win like a seasonal game… My name is laid in gold and pink terrazzo. And it’s fierce, and it’s fun, and it’s fabulous.”

Cyrus wore a vintage Versace outfit selected by designer Donatella Versace, who also spoke at the ceremony. “You shine with strength, commitment, and love in your life and your work,” Versace said. “Your light keeps getting brighter and brighter because you are fearless.”

Actress Anya Taylor-Joy, who attended in support of Cyrus, praised her evolution from Disney Channel beginnings to a multi-genre artist.

“We’re not just celebrating a career,” Taylor-Joy said. “We’re celebrating a woman who taught an entire generation how to own their story.”

Cyrus first gained widespread fame as the lead in Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana” before transitioning into a music career that has seen her experiment across pop, rock, and country influences. Over the years, she has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal fanbase while cultivating a reputation for reinvention.

At the ceremony, Cyrus emphasized her commitment to continuing her creative output.

“I commit to continuing the cycle of creation because that is what I truly live for,” she said. “My hope is what I leave behind continues to affect the hearts of generations to come.”

Dozens of fans gathered hours in advance, some arriving before dawn to secure a spot near the stage. Many sang along to her songs as the ceremony unfolded.

Alex Estrada, 26, said he decided to attend in the early morning after seeing posts online about fans camping out. “I relate to her music; she helped me through my sad times and my worst times,” he said.

Anna Lee Hendricks, 20, described Cyrus as a lifelong influence. “She supported me through my whole life,” she said. “It felt like I grew with her.”
