STORY: New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani visited a mosque in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Friday (November 7) where he was welcomed with cheers.

Mamdani prayed with fellow Muslims at the mosque and helped distribute meals.

The New York Mayor-elect is in San Juan for an annual summit that gathers politicians in New York for a series of meetings and workshops. Mamdani recibe una calurosa bienvenida durante su visita a una mezquita en Puerto Rico.

"That which has been shared with us as we have grown up, many of us in New York City, if you are not at the table, you may find yourself on the menu. And the time is now for every New Yorker, in the wealthiest city in the wealthiest country in the history of the world, to be able to eat, to be able to feed their families, to be able to both be free and to be fed."

(IN ENGLISH) You cannot buy these cities. We must, in fact, stand up to ensure that every New Yorker can afford these cities. And the same be true for our Puerto Rican brothers and sisters that are here."
