S005-CHINA RIO DE HIELO
Recently, a spectacular ice flow has appeared on the Mohe section of the Heilongjiang River in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. Ice floes of various sizes drift downstream and collide with one another, signaling that the boundary river is about to enter its freeze-up period.
Meanwhile, a heavy snowfall has blanketed the Arctic Village in white, and the unique northern scenery has attracted large numbers of tourists to admire the views and take photos. To ensure tourist safety, police officers have closely monitored the movement of ice floes on the river and promptly checked for various hazards.
It is reported that ice flows occur in two periods each year, late October and mid-to-late April, featuring a natural ice-drift phenomenon unique to rivers in northern China.
