Relatives of four victims of Argentina's military dictatorship received their loved ones' remains in Buenos Aires on Friday (July 24), nearly 50 years after their forced disappearances.

Family members carried urns containing the remains of Nelida Moreno, Jose Luis Goyochea, Rosa Godoy and Carlos Cruspeire through city streets before attending a memorial mass at a local church.

The remains were identified by the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team, which has been excavating mass graves at the former detention center La Perla in Cordoba province. "I couldn't understand how I could reach this moment because it was something I thought would never happen," said Mariela Cruspeire, daughter of two of the victims.

The excavations at La Perla have yielded 35 genetic profiles, with 29 victims identified this year, according to information from Federal Court No. 3 of Cordoba.

An estimated 30,000 people were killed or disappeared during Argentina's 1976-1983 military dictatorship, according to human rights organizations. The forensic team continues searching for remains and has called on families of the disappeared to provide DNA samples to assist with identifications.
