S004-EEUU ENTREVISTA DONALD TRUMP
U.S. President Donald Trump praised his relationship with Chinese President Xi Jinping and highlighted a major potential aircraft deal in an interview as he wrapped up his visit to Beijing on Friday (May 15).
Speaking to Fox News, Trump said personal ties were key to progress. “It's all about relationship. I have a very good relationship with President Xi,” he said.
He pointed to trade gains, including soybean purchases, and said China had committed to buying Boeing planes. “He committed to 200 Boeings… 777s and 737s… with a commitment… we could go up to 750,” Trump said.
Trump also said Xi is expected to visit Washington later this year.
On foreign policy, he said Xi wanted to see tensions with Iran end, but added the U.S. did not need help. Asked about Taiwan, Trump said U.S. policy had not changed, describing the situation as “Neutral.”
Trump called the trip a “great success,” despite limited concrete progress on broader disputes between the world’s two largest economies.
