STORY: Protesters rallying against the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency surrounded a vehicle in a Chicago suburb on Friday (September 26) amid mounting tensions in major U.S. cities over President Donald Trump's aggressive immigration crackdown.

Eyewitness video showed protesters shouting and chanting slogans while trying to stop the vehicle driving towards an ICE facility in the Chicago suburb of Broadview. Later, tear gas and pepper balls were also fired by ICE agents in attempts to disperse the demonstrators gathering outside the immigration detention center, eyewitnesses said.

Reuters is able to confirm the location as buildings, roadmap layout and electricity poles match file and satellite images. Date was verified by the metadata of file.

Friday’s incident, the latest standoff in what have become near-daily demonstrations calling to close the Chicago facility, highlights the growing tensions in major U.S. cities over Trump's aggressive immigration crackdown days after a shooting targeting an ICE facility in Dallas left one detainee dead and two others seriously wounded.
