STORY: Protesters against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations gathered in New York City on Friday (July 17), holding up placards and singing in solidarity with immigrant communities during a demonstration.

At Manhattan's Foley Square, demonstrators heard speeches and honoured the memory of civil rights leader John Lewis.

“I have a three year old daughter, I have a wife, and I have a lot of friends who aren't as fortunate to have been born a white male… it's not about politics,” said Tim McNamara from Long Island. “This is simply about ethics.”

Friday's rally was one of a series of anti-ICE demonstrations held across the country in recent months.
