Aerial footage showed thick smoke rising after an explosion at an industrial plant in Louisiana, on Friday (August 22), triggering evacuations in surrounding areas.

Reuters was able to confirm the location of the video from buildings, treelines and storage tanks that matched satellite imagery. The date of the video was verified by official statements.

The incident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. local time (1800 GMT) at Smitty's Supply, a local lubricant manufacturer in Roseland.

The initial evacuation order covered surrounding areas and was later expanded to a one-mile radius around the plant, authorities said, adding that no injuries have been reported. Agencies are investigating the cause of the explosion.
