STORY: Firefighters rescued an injured person from the rubble of an apartment block hit by a Russian glide bomb in the northern Ukrainian city of Sumy on Friday (September 18).

Two people were killed and seven injured, three of them seriously, Regional Governor Oleh Hryhorov said.

Handout video released on Saturday (September 19) from Ukraine's State Emergency Service showed firefighters carrying an injured person down a flight of stairs before transferring the person to an ambulance stretcher. The location or date of the video could not be verified. No older version of the video was found posted online before September 19. Regional Governor Oleh Hryhorov confirmed a strike on the Sumy region on September 18.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy denounced the "absolutely inhuman strike" on the apartment block and said residents may still be under the rubble. He said Russian forces had also hit a clinic in the central city of Pavlohrad and a logistics centre outside Kyiv, but provided no details on casualties.
