U.S. President Donald Trump briefly spoke to reporters at Joint Base Andrews on Friday night (September 11) before his trip to Ireland where he is expected to meet Irish President Catherine Connolly and Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin.

Trump may also attend the 2026 Amgen Irish Open, at Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg, County Clare. Security has been heightened in expectation of his visit.

“I think we are going to have a great win in the midterms, thank you very much,” said Trump before boarding the Qatar-gifted Air Force One.

Trump, whose approval rating is stuck at the lowest level of his political career, told reporters last week that he planned to allocate $400 million to $500 million to boost Republicans in the midterms.
