Donald Trump took centre stage on the green carpet ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw at Washington D.C.'s Kennedy Center.

The U.S. president was all smiles as he made his way to the event where FIFA chief Gianni Infantino was to present him with the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize.

As the 2026 World Cup Draw got underway, FIFA chief Gianni Infantino presented a new peace prize to U.S. President Donald Trump in the name of the sport's world governing body.

Trump, who has openly campaigned for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his involvement in ending multiple conflicts abroad, was given the newly created prize as well as a medal and certificate.

The award, not voted on by FIFA's Council and chosen by Infantino from a shortlist of one, was presented on stage at Washington's Kennedy Center.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup draw began with U.S. President Donald Trump, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum picking their respective nations.

Afterwards, the draw proper, with the help of star draw assistants Tom Brady, Shaquille O’Neal, Aaron Judge and Wayne Gretzky, drew the 12 groups of four.
