S002-EEUU INCENDIOS CALIFORNIA
STORY: The Springs Fire in California's Moreno Valley spread rapidly on Friday (April 3), fuelled by windy conditions and prompting evacuation orders across parts of Riverside County.
The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for Southern California through midday, citing gusts of up to 50 mph (80.5 kmh) that contributed to the fire's swift growth.
Local authorities reported that the fire, which started Friday at 11:01 a.m. (1801 GMT) on Gilman Springs Road east of Moreno Valley, had expanded to 4,127 acres by mid-afternoon.
Emergency teams were actively working to contain the blaze as evacuation orders remain in place for affected areas, authorities said.
