STORY: Aerial video showed protesters clashing with officers outside a federal detention center in downtown Los Angeles on Friday (January 30), after a day of “ICE Out” demonstrations.

Footage showed the protesters using a large red container bearing a message against the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency to block an entrance, while additional police vehicles arrived and officers advanced toward protesters, who later began dispersing into nearby streets.

Los Angeles police issued a dispersal order near the Metropolitan Detention Center building as tensions rose following the rally. Local media reported officers formed skirmish lines and deployed pepper spray.

The protest followed the fatal shootings in Minneapolis of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti this month by federal immigration agents, incidents that have sparked nationwide outrage and calls for further action.

STORY: A protest against the actions of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency erupted in Los Angeles on Friday (January 30), following nationwide demonstrations.

Riot police stood in a line with shields as protesters rallied outside the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), the site of similar protests in June 2025.

A woman chanting through a megaphone called for “Justice for Renee”, a reference to Renee Good, one of two U.S. citizens who were fatally shot in Minneapolis this month by federal immigration agents.

Thousands of protesters also took to the streets in Minneapolis and students across the United States staged walkouts on Friday to demand the withdrawal of federal immigration agents from Minnesota following the fatal shootings.
