S001-TAIWAN TEMPORAL DAÑOS
Typhoon Champi swept past Taiwan on Saturday (October 24), killing 1 person and injuring more than 500, downing trees and severing power.
In Taipei, uprooted trees damaged vehicles, with on-off squally rain showers continuing in some areas.
At one point a super typhoon and one of the strongest storms in the Pacific this year, Champi is weakening though it is still packing gusts of about 126 kph (78 mph) near its centre, according to Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration.
It is heading north towards the Chinese coast though it is not expected to make landfall there.
