STORY: Survivors walked through mud-caked streets in Trishuli, stopping to look at damaged buildings, on Saturday (August 29) as Nepal's death toll rose to 626, according to police.

Nepal and China resumed rescue operations in the flood-hit Himalayas on Friday (August 28) as the number of missing in Nepal had nearly doubled to 1,924, said the country's disaster authority.

At least 558 were missing in Tibet's Gyirong County, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV said on Thursday (August 27). Of those missing, at least 540 are foreigners, many of them Hindu pilgrims from India.

A glacier collapse on Wednesday (August 26) unleashed a torrent of rock, ice, mud and debris through Himalayan river systems.
