Nueva York (EEUU)

STORY: Venezuela’s foreign minister accused the United States on Friday (Septmeber 26) of fabricating “vulgar and perverse lies” to justify a military buildup in the Caribbean, warning it was part of a campaign to force regime change in Caracas.

"Today the aggression is aimed at Venezuela, a peaceful and supportive country like Venezuela,” Foreign Affairs Minister Yvan Gil Pinto told the U.N. General Assembly.

"It cannot be accused of having weapons of mass destruction or nuclear weapons. Today they invent vulgar and perverse lies that no one believes, neither in the United States nor in the world, to justify a million, million atrocious, extravagant and immoral military threat."

Pinto said Washington’s goal was "to bring war to the Caribbean and South America to promote a regime change that would allow them to steal Venezuela’s incalculable oil and gas wealth." He added: "Threats, lies, nor cannons do not frighten us."

"The denunciation of this attempt to bring war to the Caribbean and South America in order to promote a regime change that would allow them to steal Venezuela’s incalculable oil wealth, and so forth out, of Venezuela. The Venezuelan people love peace and that is why they are always ready to defend it. Threats, lies, nor cannons do not frighten us. Also well known and widely documented is the war that they have waged against us in every way, the criminal aggression that during the last decade they have carried out against Venezuela to seize its natural resources and bring about regime change. Mr. President, the aggressions against Venezuela in recent years are countless, actions of destabilization and conspiracies, including an attempted assassination with drones."
