S001-EEUU ORACIONES RAMADAN NUEVA YORK
Muslims gathered at New York City’s Times Square on Friday (February 20) for Ramadan Tarawih prayers.
This is the fifth time the event was held in Times Square and organisers said they were giving out nearly 2,000 free meals to Muslims to break the fast and anyone in need.
Tarawih is a prayer that Muslims perform during the month of Ramadan. Like other acts of worship, it is encouraged during this period.
Ramadan is also the time during which Muslims abstain from food, drink and other pleasures from sunrise to sunset as a means of cultivating gratitude and spiritual reflection.
