M664-INDICO INCENDIO CARGUERO
Six crew members from a cargo ship that erupted in explosions and fires in the Indian Ocean were taken to a hospital in the southern Indian city of Mangalaru on Monday (June 9).
The Singapore-flagged WAN HAI 503 had been en route from Colombo in Sri Lanka to Mumbai, India’s financial capital, local reports said, adding that the ship caught fire around 80 nautical miles (148 km, 92 miles) off the coast of the southern Indian state of Kerala.
Video released by the Indian Coast Guard showed their vessels extinguishing fires on the cargo ship.
The six crew members taken to hospital were three Chinese nationals, two from Myanmar and one Indonesian, a doctor at the medical facility said.
