M070-IRAN BOMBARDEOS TEHERAN
Rescue workers combed through the wreckage of destroyed buildings in the Iranian capital on Tuesday (March 17) as Israel said it was launching wide-range strikes on the city.
The strikes form part of Israel's wider campaign on Iran that has been ongoing since the U.S.-Israeli war began on February 28.
Vincent Cassard, Head of Delegation for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Iran, urged that medical facilities and staff be protected, saying they must be able to “provide their services in peace.”
He was speaking near Gandhi Hospital, which witnesses told Reuters was struck by Israeli strikes on March 1.
The World Health Organization said on March 2 that a hospital in Tehran has been evacuated after explosions nearby.
