"We support free and fair trade and adherence to World Trade Organization rules. From the outset, we have adapted; agreements have been signed, and they must be respected. If they were called into question, everything would be reopened. And if any country were threatened with tariffs, the European Union has equipped itself with instruments, which must then be activated because that is their purpose. So, yes, everything is on the table."

"As it happens, I will be speaking with the Iranian president shortly at his request, so I won't tell you what I will say to him because I will keep that conversation private. But France has maintained a consistent position from the outset. We call for a cessation of all hostilities, a resumption of diplomatic negotiations, and respect for all countries in the region. In this regard, I condemned last night the attacks that targeted the United Arab Emirates and called for the restoration of freedom of navigation. Therefore, for me, the only possible option is the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the free movement of all container ships, tankers, and so on, and the absence of any tolls or restrictive measures."

French President Emmanuel Macron continued his Armenian visit on Tuesday (May 5) where he met Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for a bilateral meeting.

Asked about U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to increase tariffs on automobiles from the European Union, Macron said that France supports free and fair trade and that all options were on the table to respond.

"There are agreements that have been signed and must be respected. If they were called into question, everything would have to be reopened," Macron told reporters.

"And if any country were threatened with tariffs, the European Union has instruments in place that must then be activated because that is their purpose. So yes, everything is on the table," he added.
