6. (SOUNDBITE) (German) PASSENGER RETURNING FROM DUBAI, WASSIM MALAS, SAYING: Yes, we were just very lucky. I think that was one of the first flights, the one we got. We were right by the sea and you could see lots of rockets flying down and exploding. (JOURNALIST ASKS Were you worried about your safety there and did you want to leave as quickly as possible?) I know a little bit about this from Lebanon, so it was actually okay, you sort of know what to expect. But of course, when you see it with your own eyes, how all the rockets are coming down, it's quite... (JOURNALIST ASKS QUESTION) Yes, there were a lot of security checks, a great many checks, so every passenger was checked two or three times, but on the whole, everything went quite quickly."

8. (SOUNDBITE) (German) ROBERT (LAST NAME NOT GIVEN) PASSENGER RETURNING FROM DUBAI, SAYING: "I think you have to differentiate. Everyone has different feelings because they were travelling around Dubai in different ways. I was downtown near the Burj Khalifa, so I didn't notice much. I also used my time there to work, so I'm probably not the best person to ask. There were certainly 500 to 600 rockets above us, but you didn't notice it in that way. On Saturday, it was more intense. Some friends of mine were a little closer to the Ferris wheel, where there were more explosions, but it was quieter during the night and then relaxed over the next few days."

11. (SOUNDBITE) (German) PASSENGER RETURNING FORM DUBAI, ALEXANDER LINK, SAYING "What shocked me a little, and I'm sorry to say this, was that there were still some seats available. Not many, but some, and I think it's important to fill flights like this, because there are some who are now taking many risks to cross the border on land, while others feel very safe there and want to stay there. But there are also some who are afraid, who have commitments here and want to return. And that's why every seat should be filled. Maybe some people didn't come, but that was a bit of a shame."
12. (SOUNDBITE) (German) PASSENGER RETURNING FROM DUBAI, PATRICK WOLF, SAYING: "Tonight, yes. When the rocket alarm went off again. Every night now there's been a rocket alarm, and then we had to go to the shelter area of the hotel. I wasn't sure if the flight would even take off. (JOURNALIST ASKING What was it like in the shelter area of the hotel? Were there a lot of people there?) Yes, of course. And then you just sat down, took your emergency rucksack and waited for the announcement that the rocket alarm was over."

14. (SOUNDBITE) (German) GERMAN RETURNING FROM DUBAI, SASHA KUCZEWSKI, SAYING: "I must admit, I didn't find it that bad, but I'm very glad to be back home. Other hotel guests took videos yesterday of these intercepted drones or rockets, and that made me more afraid because I didn't see them myself."
15. (SOUNDBITE) (German) PASSENGER RETURNING FROM DUBAI, MARK BRUMMERT, SAYING: "Very good, so we registered with the Foreign Office, they sent us daily updates, which was very good, and the security situation – one hears a lot of horror stories on the internet, but it wasn't a problem at all, people were on the beach, living their lives, and it was actually relatively safe."

17. (SOUNDBITE) (German) PASSENGER RETURNING FROM DUBAI, MARK BRUMMERT, SAYING: "I think the Foreign Office would have said something if there had been a high risk. Of course, there is always tension here in the Middle East, but when Mr Wadephul (German Foreign Minister) says he warned people in advance - there are different levels of warnings and you can only cancel a flight free of charge above a certain warning level, and that wasn't the case, so he simply told a lie. You have to say that, he was completely off the mark in a press conference. Also with his way of saying that he cannot evacuate the Germans - but Emirates can, the United Arab Emirates can, we apparently cannot, which is very strange."
