Minab, Irán

Victims of a girls' school bombing in the southern city of Minab were transferred to a morgue on Tuesday (March 3), as parents mourned the deadly attack that claimed over 160 people, according to Iranian state media.

Footage showed rows of bodies with the personal belongings of victims, including blood-stained school books and bags at a morgue, while parents grieved and searched for their children.

"This is her math book. Mohanna Zari, first grade," an individual off-camera said. "What wrong has she done? Her colored-pencil box is still in her bag."

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Monday (March 2) that U.S. forces "would not deliberately target a school" after the strike that happened on the first day of the U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran.

The reported strike took place on a girls' elementary school in the town of Minab in southern Iran on Saturday (February 28), marking the deadliest incident in the U.S. and Israel's war against Iran.

The incident has been condemned by the U.N. culture and education agency UNESCO and Nobel Peace Prize-winning education activist Malala Yousafzai. Deliberately attacking an educational institution or hospital or any other civilian structure is a war crime under international humanitarian law.
