Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Monday (March 2) that regional countries should put pressure on the U.S. for striking Iran.

In statements to Iran's State TV, Araqchi said that Tehran was not at war with regional countries but warned U.S. bases across the region are "legitimate targets".

Commercial satellite imagery has captured what appears to be the first known strikes on an Iranian nuclear site since the start of the U.S.-Israeli air operation, an independent policy institute said on Monday (March 2).

The Institute for Science and International Security said imagery produced by Colorado-based Vantor showed two strikes on access points to the underground uranium enrichment plant at Natanz, which was hit by the U.S. last June.

David Albright, a former U.N. nuclear inspector and founder of the institute, said the strikes appeared to have occurred sometime between Sunday afternoon (March 1) and Monday morning local time, based on the satellite imagery his group reviewed.

Eyewitness video released on Monday (March 2) showed a large plume of smoke rising over Tehran after an air strike hit the Iranian capital, as the U.S. and Israel said they struck dozens of Iranian military command centres.

The footage, verified by Reuters, captured the moment of impact.

Reuters was able to verify the location by buildings, the antenna, the roadmap layout, and the barricades, which matched with satellite images. Reuters was not able to independently verify the date of the footage.

Outgoing projectiles could also be seen in Beirut's southern suburbs’ skyline, as the conflict in the Middle East escalated with Israel attacking Lebanon in response to strikes by Hezbollah.

Mourners in the Iranian city of Minab carried coffins adorned with photographs of young children on Tuesday (March 3) during a funeral procession for victims of a strike on a girls' school.

Trucks transporting the coffins arrived as large crowds gathered in Hormozgan Province, where people held up pictures and waved flags as they walked alongside the vehicles.

The coffins were later brought to the main procession site, where funeral prayers were underway.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Monday (March 2) that U.S. forces "would not deliberately target a school" after Iranian state media reported over 160 were killed in a strike on a girls' school on the first day of the U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran.

The reported strike took place at a girls' elementary school in the town of Minab in southern Iran on Saturday (February 28), marking the deadliest incident in the U.S. and Israel's war against Iran.
