A video released by the Kherson Regional Military Administration on Tuesday (August 4) shows a drone flying in front of a man standing beside a minibus being used as a market stall in Kherson, southern Ukraine, before an explosion occurs nearby.

In the footage, the drone hovers in front of the man as he stands next to the vehicle. The man then moves behind the minibus, with the drone appearing to follow his movement. A bus passes along the road behind the man before the drone dives in and detonates near the bonnet of the minibus, triggering an explosion next to where the man stands.

Ukrainian authorities said the incident took place on August 4. Ukraine's national police said the man was a 52-year-old resident of the Mykolaiv region who was trading at the market when he was wounded in the drone attack. Police said he survived and sustained blast injuries, shrapnel wounds and a concussion.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha condemned the attack, describing it as a Russian war crime and saying the drone operator was deliberately targeting a civilian. Reuters could not independently verify those claims.

However, Ukraine's national police and Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs said the incident occurred on August 4. No older version of the video found posted online before August 4.

Russia has repeatedly denied intentionally targeting civilians during its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
