UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez walked through New York's Central Park on Tuesday (September 22) ahead of the United Nations General Assembly, where world leaders are gathering for a week of high-level diplomacy.

Burnham arrived in New York in the early hours of Tuesday and is due to meet U.S. President Donald Trump later in the day.

He is also expected to join French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and a Saudi representative in launching a Middle East peace initiative aimed at advancing efforts to resolve regional conflicts.

Nearly 130 world leaders are gathering for the UN General Assembly in New York to discuss pressing concerns including the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and the risks of rapid AI development.
