Social media footage released on Tuesday (March 31) showed a large explosion and thick smoke in Isfahan, Iran.

Reuters confirmed the location by buildings, car park layout, tower, lights on the highway and trees which matched satellite imagery of the area, and mountains in the background matched topography mapping. The shape of the smoke and blast matched corroborating visuals posted online.

The exact time when the video was filmed could not be verified but no older versions were found posted online before Tuesday. The Iranian Fars news agency quoted a local security official who said that military locations in Isfahan had been targeted.

The war has continued to spread, with Iran-aligned Houthis in Yemen entering the war by firing at Israel, and Turkey reporting on Monday (March 30) that a ballistic missile launched from Iran had entered Turkish airspace before being shot down.

The war has also revived conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah, while Iran, which has the highest casualty toll in the war, has fired at targets in Gulf Arab states, where the U.S. has military bases.
