M030-VENEZUELA ENTIERRO VICTIMA ATAQUES MADURO
: Family members buried 80-year-old Rosa Elena Gonzalez in Catia La Mar, northwest of Caracas, on Monday (January 5) after she died from injuries sustained during U.S. military strikes on the Venezuelan capital.
According to her brother, Jose Luis Gonzalez, she was injured at home as a result of explosions near the Bolivarian Navy Military Academy.
Gonzalez was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died.
Her apartment was destroyed as a result of the bombardment.
The funeral was attended by about a dozen people in an intimate ceremony.
Gonzalez lived in Catia La Mar, close to the naval academy, local reports said.
The U.S. operation early on Saturday (January 3) included strikes in Caracas and surrounding states, including La Guaira, Aragua and Miranda.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were captured by U.S. forces and taken to a detention centre in New York.

"I'm Jose Luis Gonzalez, brother of Rosa Elena Gonzalez who died in the small hospital in Catia la Mar. She was a very simple woman, very beautiful in her conduct, an impeccable woman, good, kind. She shared what was hers with others and in terms of health, all her life she was very healthy, she never suffered from illnesses until this date when this tragedy happened to her, dying as a result of the bombing. So this can serve all of us so that the world recognizes my sister's character."

We're hoping that people adjust their conduct, attacking a town that was living in peace, that was calm, that had celebrated its Christmas holidays... and then this tragedy happened to them. So we hope it doesn't happen again."
