The aircraft struck the fire vehicle at ‌a speed ⁠of about 24 miles per hour (39 kph), according to flight-tracking website Flightradar24, which last recorded data at 11:37 p.m. EDT (0337 GMT). The crashed aircraft with its crushed cockpit pointing skyward remained visible at the airport on Monday (March 23). Some flights resumed later that afternoon, but the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the runway where the accident took place would be closed until Friday (March 27), which will likely cause delays throughout the week.

The crash injured dozens of passengers and led to hundreds of flight cancellations at the start of the working week in the latest disruption for airports and carriers that have been knocked off-kilter by a weeks-long budget standoff in Congress.
