Eyewitness footage released on Tuesday (January 6) showed an apartment on fire after what was said to be a Ukrainian drone strike in the Tver region of Russia.

Reuters was able to confirm the location from the building characteristics, windows, business signage, trees, streetlights, and parking lot matching satellite and file imagery of the area. Reuters was not able to confirm when footage was filmed. Tver region’s acting governor Vitaly Korolev confirmed the attack on the region.

One person was killed and two were injured as a result of a Ukrainian drone attack in the Tver region, the regional governor’s office said on the Telegram messaging app on Tuesday.

Drone debris hit a ninth-floor apartment and sparked a fire that was later extinguished, while residents of neighbouring flats were evacuated, the office said, citing the region's acting governor, Vitaly Korolev, as saying.
