M008-REINO UNIDO PROTESTA BREXIT
Ten years on from Britain's vote to leave the European Union, activists mowed an outsize message giving a critical verdict on the move in a farmer's field in England on Friday (June 19).
'Led by Donkeys', an anti-Brexit campaign group known for its visual stunts, wrote "Brexit Broke Britain" using a tractor on the farm near the town of Cricklade in the west of England.
Reuters confirmed the location by the fields layout and buildings, which matched satellite and archive imagery of the area. The date was confirmed by additional information from the source. The sign written on the field is visible on satellite imagery as of Friday.
Britain voted to leave the EU on June 23, 2016, finally exiting the world's biggest trading bloc an hour before midnight on December 31, 2020, bringing to an end an often turbulent 47-year membership.
Since then, Britain's economy is widely accepted to have been damaged and it is in the grip of the highest prime ministerial turnover in nearly two centuries.
The trade deals and regulatory independence over financial services and artificial intelligence hailed as gains for the UK since leaving the EU, have not had the expected impact on everyday life for most.
