STORY: Drone shots on Tuesday (September 23) showed flooding in a Philippine town north of the capital Manila after heavy rain brought by super typhoon Ragasa hit the area.

“Yesterday there was no flood but now look, because of the rain (my shop) got flooded, this morning it was filled with water,” said 54-year-old barbershop owner Eduardo Puno in Apalit, a municipality in the province of Pampanga.

Ragasa swept through the northern Philippines on Monday (September 22), prompting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr to order the country's disaster response agency to go on full alert and mobilise all government agencies.

Ragasa, the world's most powerful tropical typhoon this year, packed hurricane-force winds of up to 220 kph (137 mph), and is edging closer to the coast of southern Guangdong province in China, the Hong Kong Observatory said.
