M006-ISRAEL REACCIONES PAZ TRUMP

Jerusalén, Israel

STORY: Israelis in Jerusalem were positive about U.S President Donald Trump's plan for Gaza on Tuesday (September 30), saying this deal is one the state of Israel can live with.

Despite the positive reception in Israel, uncertainty remains as to whether Hamas will agree to the terms and dismantle their weapons after two years of fighting.

The White House released a 20-point document that called for an immediate ceasefire, an exchange of hostages held by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel, a staged Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, Hamas disarmament and a transitional government led by an international body.

It was not immediately clear whether the Trump administration and Israel had resolved all their differences, including over the possibility of a future Palestinian State, which Netanyahu has forcefully rejected, and any role for the Palestinian Authority in post-war governance of the enclave.

Trump thanked Netanyahu "for agreeing to the plan and for trusting that if we work together, we can bring an end to the death and destruction that we've seen for so many years, decades, even centuries."

4. (SOUNDBITE)(English) EREZ GOLDMAN, ATTORNEY, SAYING:

"Great day for Israel. I don't see anyone from right to left who's going to go against it. The only question is now if Hamas will approve and end this misery that we are in for almost two years."

6. (SOUNDBITE)(English) EREZ GOLDMAN, ATTORNEY, SAYING:

"I can tell you the truth, personally I was overwhelmed because it's the first time that I looked at all the points and I didn't see anything that I don't agree with. So I was really, really happy that they got to an agreement between Trump and Netanyahu that Israel can live with that agreement. I was really happy."

7. JOSEPH SCUTTS, READING THE NEWSPAPER

8. ISRAELI PAPER, SHOWING A PHOTO OF U.S PRESIDENT TRUMP AND ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER BENJAMIN NETANYAHU, HEADLINE READING (Hebrew): 'Days of peace'.

9. (SOUNDBITE) (English) JOSEPH SCUTTS, VISITOR FROM NEW YORK, SAYING:

"You know, Hamas is going to have to take this deal. Am I optimistic about them? No, because we’re dealing with terrorists, but when push comes to shove, and you see the backing that Israel has in the final ultimatum, they really don’t have a choice. It’s do or die, you know? They either release all the hostages, the 20 that are alive and the 20 that are dead, of blessed memory, or Israel will go in and finish the job themselves.”

10. SUSAN KENNEDY SITTING AT TABLE WITH FRIEND

11. (SOUNDBITE)(English) SUSAN KENNEDY, WRITER, SAYING:

"I feel that whatever happens, we absolutely need to end the war and to bring the hostages home. I think this should have been done two years ago. I think we've done it way, way, way too late with far too many deaths on both sides, our soldiers, our hostages, and the Gazan people. But I think it's a great move. I just wonder if Hamas will agree to dismantling their weapons and leaving Gaza. I mean, they've been fighting for two years to maintain their power. So I wonder if they will agree."
