Lousseny Condé, 35, said he lost several members of his family in the landslide of the Dar-Es-Salam. They were all inside their R+2 house, which was completely reduced to rubble.

"On our side, we have lost between 9 and 10 family members here," he said.

On Monday, he was at the disaster site and trying to identify the bodies of his relatives. However, he said he was unable to identify the bodies recovered by rescue workers because of their advanced state of decomposition.

“The bodies are already decomposed, and it is no longer possible to recognize anyone,” he said.

Condé is calling on the Guinean president to assist residents of the area affected by the collapse.

“Our hearts are bleeding. We are calling on the authorities, and the President personally, to come to the aid of the citizens living in this neighbourhood,” he added.

The landslide occurred at the Dar-Es-Salam landfill in the Gbessia commune of Conakry following heavy rains. It destroyed several homes and left around 30 people dead and 22 others injured, according to Guinea’s emergency authorities.
