Londres, Reino Unido

Senior British lawmakers arrived for a crucial cabinet meeting at the Prime Minister's office in Downing Street on Tuesday (May 12) when several of there were expected to tell Keir Starmer to quit.

The Telegraph, citing cabinet sources, said the six were interior minister Shabana Mahmood, defence minister John Healey, energy minister Ed Miliband, culture minister Lisa Nandy, foreign minister Yvette Cooper, and health minister Wes Streeting.

Meanwhile, Starmer's office said in a statement that the prime minister told the cabinet meeting he was not quitting.

Almost 80 lawmakers publicly called for him to set a resignation date so the party could install a new leader in an orderly manner after one of the governing Labour Party's worst election defeats.
